Royal shelving by Poul Cadovius
The Royal System was created in 1948 and conceived from a purely functionalist perspective; to create more space by hanging furniture on the walls.
Cadovius designed simple and elegant detailing to hang shelves and storage units. The system allowed for great flexibility, that users could specify an arrangement of case-units and shelves to suit their needs and that could grow as required.
Poul Cadovius trained as both a saddle maker and a painter and in the 1940s established a small factory to produce blinds. His position as a designer was cemented when he launched the Royal System. He registered over 400 patents for his shelving system. Beyond the shelving, he also designed tables, storage and seating for several other Danish manufacturers.
The system is in veneered rosewood.
